Frank Stürmer’s photographs are intuitive snapshots of the often overlooked intermediate spaces of our natural, interpersonal and architectural environments. His photographs do not feature any constructed compositions of pictorial motifs. What interests Frank Stürmer is the lively assemblage of modern cities, the quaintness of Romanian villages, and the beauty of nature. In both single shots and photographic series, plants, animals, houses and people are portrayed as equals. In particular, the photographs of plants counter the anthropocentric taxonomic classification of “nature” with radically individual documentation, expanded by Frank Stürmer’s play with the size and presentation of the photographs.
