On 13 November 2026, Sophie Lindner will open her first solo exhibition at the MILCHSTRASSE 4 project room. The artist has so far showcased her painting on social media, amongst other platforms. Yet these formats have not become a portfolio or a gallery in their own right. And the posts have little to do with young women posing in front of canvases or casually mentioning what they have learnt as they pass by. Sophie Lindner, as a painter, sees all this simply as a backdrop or even a primer. In a single stroke, the surface is both worked upon and pierced. The path outwards becomes the path inwards; the painted image becomes the future of representation. Thus, a great narrative begins anew in the desert. The early Christians spoke of kenosis, of self-emptying or self-denial. Sophie Lindner shares in this reversal. One can believe this artist when she speaks of honesty.
