The evening brings together Zanele Muholi’s artistic and activist practice and the nineteenth print edition of “Der Greif,” curated by Muholi. The starting point is Muholi’s understanding of the environment as encompassing the body, community, history, and land: “You are the environment.” Following an introduction to the issue by coeditor Caroline von Courten, Zanele Muholi will offer insights into their practice. The subsequent panel discussion with Zanele Muholi, Caroline von Courten, and Monika Bayer-Wermuth (Museum Brandhorst) will explore questions of interdependency: What connects institutional voices and creative practitioners? And how can this relationship be reimagined beyond fixed labels?
The evening will wind down with drinks at the bar. The exhibitions “In My Head” and “Long Story Short” will remain open, with a work by Muholi on view in the latter.
